Friends of the Morris Book Shop
While Wyn, Hap, Josh, and Anne Dean grab all the glory recommending and selling books, there are many other people whose contributions to the store have been integral to our very existence. We would like to recognize their efforts, and to salute them (alphabetically, of course!) for their generosity:
Tom Ackerman and his entire family are some of the Morris Book Shop's best customers, by any metric available. Tom has also made special efforts to improve our public profile and has introduced us to several authors and scholars.
Becky Dundon aspires to run a bookstore of her own one day, and has—enthusiastically and on her own initiative—undertaken to learn the mysteries of bookselling at the Morris Book Shop. We're certainly glad to have her around!
Joe Houlihan operated the original Morris Book Shop for three decades. His bookselling knowledge is bone-deep: a two-time American Booksellers Association president, Joe built a bookstore whose positive impact on Lexington continues to resonate.
Lori Houlihan has operated Isle of You for over a decade, and her knowledge of entrepreneurship and the retail world have kept our bookstore on the right path from the beginning. Lori is also our unofficial CEMO (chief electronic marketing officer).
Scott Luallen risked facial re-injury, exposure to noxious chemicals, and other hazards to build the store with his bare hands. After the heavy lifting was done, he stuck around to help us make our start. We owe Scott our deepest gratitude.
Harck Pickett is the architect of the store's nerve center: our computer network. He has given up many peaceful evenings to make sure that everything runs just right. We owe him thanks everytime we find a book, place an order, or ring up a purchase.
Robert Schnieder is known across the country for his musical talents, which he shared at our grand opening. But Robert also happens to be a budding mathematician and self-proclaimed science geek: our science section is mightier by far due to his efforts.
Carl Sword has rolled up his sleeves on our behalf countless times. He has painted walls, hauled bookshelves, unpacked boxes: whatever needed doing, Carl has been there to do it, with an unassuming air and an infectious smile.
Vicki Sword lends her talents and tastes to the store's aesthetically challenged management. If something in the store looks good, Vicki is probably to blame. She has also been known to pitch in at the store on Friday mornings.
There are also many businesses who have contributed to our well-being with their outstanding work: you'll find them on our links page. |
